My DHI Hair Transplant Journey at Rimo Clinic in Istanbul

If you're considering restoring your lost hair or improving your overall appearance, hair transplant techniques at Rimo Hair Center may be the perfect solution. In this article, we'll share a patient's personal experience with a hair transplant, including all the details from preparation to final results.

Max underwent a hair transplant at Rimo Hair Clinic. Here is his full story from before the procedure until nine months after.

Before hair transplantation

I started experiencing noticeable receding hairlines at an early age. At first, I tried to hide my premature balding with long, curly hair and styling products, but it didn't work. My hairline became increasingly thinner, and the receding areas became deeper, which significantly impacted my self-image.

I tried many cosmetics, medications and masks to reduce hair loss, but unfortunately, the situation got worse, so I decided to open Google and search for hair loss solutions. I came across the Rimo Hair Clinic website in Istanbul. I clicked to enter the website and this was the turning point in my life. I saw many hair transplant operations and completely natural results for patients whose condition was very similar to mine. So, I decided to click the contact me via WhatsApp button.

I scheduled an initial consultation with one of the skilled surgeons at Rimo Clinic in Turkey. After a long phone call, he asked me about my medical history, how my hair loss started, and whether I had any chronic conditions. He suggested a hair transplant in Istanbul and asked me if I was in the early or late stages, so he could determine the appropriate time for the procedure.

He agreed with me to book an appointment so that I could come to get hair transplant in Istanbul

7:30 AM | Arrive at the clinic

On the day of the procedure, I arrived at the clinic at 7:30 a.m. I felt relaxed! During the reception session I had with the doctor and the technician (a hair transplant nurse), my personal condition, wishes, and treatment day were discussed in detail.

The technician began taking photos of my current hair, including receding areas, with the goal of comparing the before and after photos during the final evaluation after nine months.

Then the technician started cutting my hair with a razor and it was done in a short time - less than a minute, and my head became "bald". It was difficult for me to accept this at first, but the idea soon became easier to accept.

8:00 AM | Anesthesia and Follicular Unit Extraction

The real work begins: separating the follicles and extracting them from the donor area. To do this, I lie on my stomach in a comfortable chair while my scalp is locally anesthetized.

Then the technician started extracting the grafts, or at least that's what she said; I didn't feel anything and all I could hear was soft music in the background and the sound of the foot pedal being used to count the grafts.

In about three hours, 1,800 grafts were harvested from the donor area on the back and sides of my head. We chatted, and I took a break for a refreshing fruit plate.

New hairline

At the end of the morning, after all the follicles had been extracted, the hair transplant surgeon joined us, and together we determined the final shape of the new hairline. The goal of a hair transplant is to make it look as natural as possible and to fit the shape of my head. This is the essence of the procedure: enhancing and filling in my original hairline.

1:00 PM | Transplant

After a delicious lunch with soup and sandwiches, the afternoon program began: the “main part” of the day. I was again under local anesthesia, this time in the reception area, that is, in the bald area:

The procedure was done with a pen-like instrument called a Choi pen and the doctor told me that the implantation is done with the DHI (direct grafting) technique and this time I lay on my back in the treatment chair.

Again I felt no pain or discomfort and for a moment everything seemed like a day at a spa: I was relaxing and lying comfortably, being well cared for, listening to music or watching a TV series.

The procedure was performed by a medical team with over 13 years of experience in hair transplantation. The re-implantation process took about three hours, and afterward, I felt incredibly fit, although I did feel a little dizzy from lying down for so long.

Exciting moment

Then came an exciting moment: I looked in the mirror for the first time since that morning and saw the amazing results! The treatment area looked good, and although it was still a little red, the outlines of the new hairline were clearly visible. The doctor asked me, "How did I feel?" I replied, "Great!" The entire procedure was painless, and except for a few areas sensitive to the anesthesia, the procedure caused no discomfort.

5:00 PM | Back Home

Then, before I knew it, it was 5:00 PM, and the treatment was over. I received detailed instructions on aftercare at home, a reminder that this is extremely important to avoid complications and ensure a successful final outcome.

I was given a care kit to take home: medication to stimulate blood flow to the new hair follicles, a spray and neck pillow, and a cold compress for any redness or swelling during the first 48 hours. The advice is to use the cold compress every two hours as a precaution. I drove home.

Futile

Once I get home, the next exciting moment comes: My wife, family, and friends are eager to see the first visible results! My new hairline is already visible, although the hair still needs to grow in the coming months.

That night, I slept in the recommended sleeping position, which felt unnatural, and I started to feel some itching. I sat up straight, resting my head on a travel pillow to ensure nothing touched the newly treated area. Although the transplanted hairs adhere quickly, the first 48 hours are crucial.

After a grueling first night, I returned to work the day after treatment, sometimes adjusting my office chair to a recline position and carefully cooling my forehead to prevent any swelling from the wound fluid on my face.

The advice is to relax for the first few days after treatment, avoid excessive stress and sun exposure. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable I felt the day after the procedure. The swelling in my forehead is minimal and I can go about my business normally.

Weeks following treatment

On the tenth day, I was able to wash my hair on my own. From the third day until the tenth, I visited the Rimo Hair Clinic several times to have the doctor personally supervise the washing of my scalp. It was a special moment, and I continued the treatment with caution for fear of making a mistake.

I still feel strange on my scalp because the sensation hasn't fully returned yet, which is normal shortly after the procedure. Recovery progresses very quickly and without any problems. After two weeks, the scabs in the donor and recipient areas were completely healed, and the transplanted hair started to grow.

A day at the spa

After some time I realized that this procedure was much easier than I expected and it turned out that the obstacles I had set for myself were completely unnecessary and the treatment day was sometimes like a day at the spa. Okay, it's a long session, but you are treated like royalty!

The months following treatment

In the first weeks after treatment, my new hair grows well although it still looks thin.

transplanted hair loss

A month and a half after the procedure, I suddenly felt anxious! The gradual hair loss, which is normal at this stage, was very noticeable in my case, and fortunately, the doctor quickly reassured me. This is part of the natural process after a hair transplant. Hair loss is only temporary and varies from person to person. During this transitional phase, the transplanted hair falls out, and the hair follicle remains hairless for about three months. After three months, new hair grows from the roots, and it is now noticeably thicker.

Step by step

After a few months, I received a lot of positive feedback (on public sharing) about my hair transplant procedure and the first visible results. This boosted my confidence, even though my new hairstyle is still evolving. My hair is growing and gaining more volume and thickness as the months go by.

Since I've had long hair since I was a child, I'm so happy when I see my hair grow back after five months. This boosts my self-esteem tremendously.

Final result

After a full nine-month hair growth cycle, the final result is clear. I am very pleased with the treatment I received, the expertise and personal attention of the medical staff, and the amazing final result. A beautiful, natural hairline and good hair density make it easy to tell that my hair is the result of a hair transplant.
